Wayne High wins home invite

After battling tough road competition in a pair of triangular matches during the week, Wayne High volleyball was back on their home court where they swept all four of their opponents on Sept. 27.

From the Wayne Jr/Sr High School gymnasium, the Blue Devils started with a 2-0 sweep over Madison (25-13, 25-12), defeated Wisner-Pilger (25-20, 25-20), topped Archangels Catholic (25-11, 25-19) and closed with a 2-0 sweep over Summerland (25-17, 25-16).

The Blue Devils are now 13-8 on the season.

For the weekend, senior Haley Kramer recorded 21 kills, 20 digs, five blocks (two solo) and two service aces followed by sophomore Kamden Dobbins with 18 kills, 12 digs, four aces and a block.

Senior Elle Powicki added 17 kills, 11 digs and five blocks.

Junior Addison Frank posted a team-high 51 digs to go along with three aces.

Junior Mallory Redden finished with 77 assists, 26 digs, seven kills and six aces.

Freshman Lilly Redden totaled 23 digs; senior Jacen Hasemann had 13 digs and junior Alexis Legler tallied 14 kills, 13 digs and five blocks (one solo).

Junior Naomi Lipp recorded four blocks (three solo) and two aces, freshman Sienna Lipp had three blocks and senior Megan Magnuson tacked on 11 kills, two digs and a block.

The week prior, Wayne High split their road triangular matches in Hartington on Sept. 25.

WHS won in three sets over O'Neill (25-18, 20-25, 25-17) but were swept by the host Cedar Catholic (23-25, 19-25).

Wayne High will next visit West Point-Beemer on Tuesday, September 30 starting at 5 p.m.

The Blue Devils will also host Stanton on Thursday, October 2 starting at 5:30 p.m. and travel to Albion for the Boone Central triangular with Pierce on Tuesday, October 7 starting at 5 p.m.
