The Wayne chapter of the Izaak Walton League recently announced they will be hosting their annual Youth Fishing Derby.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 14. Free registration begins at 9 a.m. with fishing from 9:30 – 11 a.m.  Prizes will be awarded around 11:30.

There will be a hot dog lunch for the participants and their parents/mentors.

The rain date for this year's derby is Sunday, June 15, beginning at  1 p.m.

The youth will be placed into three age groups ranging from two to sixteen years of age and prizes will be awarded to various categories.

Ikes Lake is located, from the Highway 15 and 35 intersection of Wayne, four miles north, two miles west, and 1/2 mile north on the right side of the road.

“This event has always been a great way to get kids involved with the outdoors, catch some fish, win some prizes and we look forward to seeing everyone this year,” said Ikes President Erin Eilers.
