Following a seven-day break from action, the Wayne Junior High boys wrestling program went back to work on the mat with one remaining outing this weekend.
From Battle Creek, the Blue Devil seventh and eighth grade boys wrestlers took part in the Battle Creek Junior High Invite on Tuesday.
The Wayne JH boys wrestling team finished 20th with 23.5 total match points among their 11 wrestlers.
Battle Creek won the Battle Creek JH Invite with 192.5 points (23 wrestlers) followed by Pierce in runner-up with 157.5 points (19 wrestlers).
The top Wayne Junior High boys wrestlers were Jesus Ozuna (170) with nine team points, Blake Heithold (90) followed with 7.5 team points; Joshua Carrillo (135) added three team points, Isaiah Zarate (125) tallied two team points while Gerson Torres (120) and Javier Zavala (130) both scored one team point.
In the 155 – B Division, Jude Arehart placed first.
Tyler Daniels (85), Angel Lux (101), Jesus Vargas (145) and Clifton Kaup (155) were also in action.
The Wayne Junior High boys wrestling team will conclude their season on Saturday, December 7 during the Schuyler Invite starting at 8:30 a.m.
Wayne Junior High girls wrestling will begin their season on January 18.
