Wayne JH wrestling brings home four champions during Norfolk Catholic Invite, team finishes third

With just two more invitationals on the schedule during the month of December, the Wayne Junior High boys wrestling team took part in a week-day tournament.

From Norfolk Catholic High School, the Blue Devil seventh and eighth grade boys wrestlers joined eight other teams during the Norfolk Catholic Tournament.

The Wayne JH boys wrestlers finished third with 141 total match points.

Battle Creek won the Norfolk Catholic boys division with 385 points followed by Crofton/Bloomfield in runner-up with 164 points.

Wayne Junior High leaders were Tyler Daniels (80-85), Blake Heithold (88-91), Javier Zavala (128-135) and Jesus Ozuna (174-195) all in first place.

Other results came from Isaiah Zarate (118-123) and Joshua Carillo (124-130) both in runner-up as Angel Lux (101-105), Gerson Torres (115-118), Jude Arehart (148-152) and Clifton Kaup (150-158) all placed third. Jesus Vargas (142-146) took fourth.

The Wayne Junior High boys wrestlers will close out their season during the Battle Creek Invite on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 3:30 p.m. and Schuyler Invite on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 8:30 a.m.

The Wayne Junior High girls wrestling season will begin on Saturday, Jan. 18 during the Plainview Tournament.
