Wayne junior high girls wrestling ties for second, six event champions

For the second time in three days, the Wayne Junior High girls wrestling team took to the road for invite competition.

From O’Neill, the Blue Devil seventh and eighth grade girls joined 13 other teams during the O’Neill JH Girls Invite on Monday.

The Wayne Junior High girls finished tied for second with 174 points among their 13 wrestlers.

South Sioux City brought 28 wrestlers and won the O’Neill JH Girls Invite with 186.5 points, the host O’Neill and Wayne tied for second (174), Battle Creek placed fourth (149) and Summerland rounded out the top five teams with 117 points.

The Wayne Junior High girls were led by event champions Sarah Kuchta (65), Lucille Ocampo (109-115), Lorelai Sorenson (117-122), Reagan McManigal (126-128), Zoe Bolles (133-140) and Alexandria Ziska (160-175) while Saoirse Fitzgerald (140-145) followed in runner-up.

Third place results came from Pashynce Owens-Webb (95-98), Kyah Campbell (107-110), Rose Kaup (123-124), Morgan Jeppesen (124-136) and Ayvree Abler (125-133) all placed third.

Elena Tomas Bacillio (143-147) also took fourth.

The Wayne Junior High girls wrestlers will be off until Friday, Jan. 31 hosting an invite.
