Junior High sports returned for their upcoming winter sports season beginning with the Wayne Junior High wrestling invite.
From the Wayne Jr/Sr High School, a total of 14 boys teams were in action on Saturday.
Wayne JH finished ninth with 91 points from their 11 wrestlers.
Columbus Middle School (29 wrestlers) won the Wayne Boys Jr. High Invite with 237.5 points just ahead of Battle Creek (22) with 237 points. Norfolk JH (47) placed third with 235.5 points, Pierce JH (19) totaled 226.5 points for fourth and Schuyler (30) rounded out the top five teams with 200 points.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (11) finished eighth with 142 points while Winside (five – 52.5 pts) and Wakefield (five – 48 pts) placed 12th and 13th respectively.
Wayne Junior High was led by runner-up results from Clifton Kaup (148-153) and Jesus Ozuna (174-188).
Tyler Daniels (88-91), Blake Heithold (93-101), Gerson Torres (115-118), Isaiah Zarate (122-126), Joshua Carillo (127-131), Jesus Vargas (139-143) and Jude Arehart (148-151) all took third as Angel Lux (101-107) and Javier Zavala (130) both placed fourth.
Wakefield leaders were Daniel Jimenez (144-158) and Gabriel Rodriguez (161-167) both in runner-up.
LCC leaders were champions of Kai Hartung (132-136), Alex Kvols (148-151), Alex Allison (164-170), Turner Thompson (191-205) and James Recob (209-216) while Owen Johnson (89-92) took second.
Winside leaders were Roman Hernandez (124-128 A) in first followed by Gage Kimmel (111-119) in runner-up.
The Wayne Junior High wrestling team will next travel to Creighton for a road quadrangular on Thursday, Nov. 14 starting at 4 p.m. Norfolk Junior High and Norfolk Catholic Junior High will also join.
The Wayne Junior High girls wrestling season will begin on Jan. 18. A home invite is scheduled for Jan. 31.
