Wayne, LCC, Tri County Northeast runners take over Lewis and Clark SRA

Wayne, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Tri County Northeast cross country runners were in action on a flat and fast course on Sept. 25.

From the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area, the Crofton Invite showcased several high school and junior high runners. Due to renovations, the course was marked out in the state park area.

There was also some times in correct on the final results due to bib numbers getting mixed up.

The Wayne High girls took second with 51 points while the Blue Devil boys placed third with 52 points (just missed runner-up by two points).

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge finished third in the girls division with 52 points as the LCC boys took seventh (117).

Tri County Northeast finished ninth out of 10 full teams overall according to head coach Dave Uldrich.

Wayne High varsity girls medals were awarded to freshman Tayla Hurner in second (20:21.44) and senior Lilyan Hurner who placed 11th (22:24.98).

Other Blue Devil results came from freshman Elizabeth Hix (17th - 22:56.75), sophomore Mariana Nexticapan Hernandez (23rd - 23:21.66), senior Kennasyn Blecke (32nd - 24:48.79) and senior Josie Ley (33rd - 25:04.24).

In the girls JV race, sophomore Karla Wynia (fourth - 26:35.96), sophomore Hanna Brogren (seventh - 28:41.5) and senior Sharon Vasquez (ninth - 36:13.61) competed for Wayne.

LCC varsity medalists were senior Kate Tasler in fifth (21:20.74) while sophomore Leah Gould placed 15th (22:50.41).

Other results for the Bears came from senior Addy Hoeppner (19th - 23:13.61), junior Faith Galvin (20th - 23:19.98), sophomore Ava Christiansen (25th - 23:57.49) and junior Abbie Brummels (33rd - 25:18.66).

The Tri County Northeast girls were led by an 18th place finish from Alejandra Hermosillo (22:57.64) while Rachael Bousquet took 24th (23:42.4).

Other Wolfpack results came from Hailey Millard (44th - 27:19.02) and Chloe Peters (46th - 27:37.74).

Crofton won the team race with 22 points.

Avery Arens from Crofton won the girls 5k in a time of 17:04.62 among the 57 runners.

The Wayne High boys were led by varsity medalists of junior Emmanuel Gonzalez (eighth - 18:21.5), junior Camden Hall (13th - 18:33.7) and fellow junior Alvaro Archundia (14th - 18:44.2).

Other varsity Blue Devil results came from junior Landen Claussen (17th - 18:53) and junior Gabriel Armstrong (19th - 19:09).

In the JV race, sophomore Grady Maas took first (19:15.5), junior Thomas Raymundo (third - 19:19.2), senior Boden Dobbins (fourth - 19:19.3) and junior Lance Brink (fifth - 19:30.8).

Freshman Colston Starzl ran a time of 19:46.4.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was led by a 15th place medal from Shane Langford (18:44.8).

Other Bears results came from freshman Owen Johnson (19:51.8), sophomore Sebastian Van Drongelen (21:20.6), junior Hunter McGhee (21:53.7), junior Dillion Samnderson (24:50.1) and junior Luke Jackson (26:42.1).

Senior Oscar Salas competed in the JV division (28:35.3).

The Tri County Northeast boys were led by Jude Ridenour just missing out on the medal stand in 16th (18:50.2) as Alex Snyder placed 37th (20:12).

Other Wolfpack results were posted by Tucker Anderson (64th - 22:52.9), Logan Kraemer (69th - 23:23.7) and Matthew Bousquet (82nd - 26:43.7).

Junior Jonah Ash from Norfolk Catholic won the boys 5k race in 16:51.9 among the 90 overall runners. Norfolk Catholic won the team race over Bloomfield/Wausa (13 to 29 pts).

Wayne High varsity runners will travel to the state meet course in Kearney on Monday, September 29 starting at 12:30 p.m.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is off until the Battle Creek Invite on Friday, October 3 starting at 11 a.m.

Head coach David Uldrich for the Allen/Emerson-Hubbard co-op said, “the team faced the toughest competition of the season. Some of the athletes ran well and others struggled due to heat. It will be important to regain focus and mental toughness for the stretch run of the season. Individually, there still is time to improve times, it will just take the athletes to do that. Today (Thursday) was difficult and expected. The athletes do continue to compete and lack of effort is not a problem. Good job teams, good luck next week."

The Tri County Northeast cross country team will next travel to Stanton on Thursday, October 2 starting at 4 p.m.

The Junior High races featured 50 girls and 50 boys on the 2k course on Sept. 25.

The Wayne Junior High girls were led by a silver medal from eighth grader Hadley Dunklau (14:17.51), eighth grader Sarah Kuchta in sixth (14:49.34) and seventh grader Kiley Dutcher took ninth (15:18.16).

Other Blue Devil JH results were posted by eighth grader Rose Kaup (14th - 15:53.84), seventh grader Marissa Brink (15th - 16:05.65), seventh grader Schyler Wiseman (18th - 16:25.77), seventh grader AnaBelle Cook (19th - 16:45.48), seventh grader Cora Surber (20th - 16:48.63), eighth grader Alyssa Bargholz (21st - 16:55.77), seventh grader Alexis Ptacek (24th - 17:37.78), seventh grader Konstynce Owens-Webb (29th - 17:55.54), eighth grader Molly Allemann (30th - 18:13.76) and seventh grader Gracie Naeve (47th - 21:40.86).

The top Laurel-Concord-Coleridge junior high performer was seventh grader Autumn Funk in 22nd (16:58.38).

Other times for the Bulldogs were posted by eighth grader Ruby Tasler (17:42.06), seventh grader Tenlie Christiansen (17:53.38), seventh grader Aizlynn Kossler (31st - 18:30.83),  eighth grader Anna Lipp (20:16.58), eighth grader Payton Benson (21:07.47) and eighth grader Stella Graham (23:12.96).

Eighth grader Mercy Kann from Norfolk Catholic ran the fastest time (13:13.08) on the two-mile course.

The Wayne Junior High boys were led by a runner-up finish from seventh grader Calvin Lipp (13:22.69) and eighth grader Benjamin Patefield who earned a fifth place medal (13:49.15).

Other Blue Devil JH results came from eighth grader Owen Wynia (23rd - 15:44.27), seventh grader Tyson Hoffman (26th - 15:48.88), seventh grader Mason Mendez (39th - 18:24.19), seventh grader Callan Sims (38th - 18:19.92) and seventh grader Grant Law (43rd - 19:10.36).

Leading the way for LCC was Jeremiah Kinkaid placing third for the Bulldogs in 13:45.45.

Other results for the LCC JH boys came from seventh grader Rhett Eggers (14:38.73), seventh grader Liam Recob (14:52.73), seventh grader Jaxon Hoeppner (15:52.19), seventh grader Ryker Settje (29th - 15:56.34), eighth grader Caden Barnes (18:16.18), seventh grader Grant Brummels (18:58.02), seventh grader Drake Jairam (19:20.4), seventh grader Easton Gould (21:09.95), eighth grader Josh Tarno (21:20.79) and seventh grader Corbin Garcia (22:29.46).

Ethan Rohrer from Creighton ran the fastest time (12:55.12) on the two-mile course.
