Wayne netters fourth at Boone Central Invite

ALBION – The Wayne High volleyball team brought home a fourth-place finish from the Boone Central Invitational on Saturday.
Wayne opened with a 25-22, 25-15 win over O’Neill, led by the hot hitting of Allison Echtenkamp. She recorded 12 kills and hit for a .524 attack percentage in the win, while also coming up with two blocks.
Lindy Sandoz added 5 kills, two blocks and 13 assists in the win. Shania Anderosn had four kills, Brenna Vovos had nine assists and five digs, Gabrielle Lutt had seven digs and Emily Armstrong had four digs.
In the semifinals the Blue Devils fell to Ord in straight sets, 25-12, 25-16. Echtenkamp led the attack with five kills while Sandoz added three to go with six assists. Vovos had three assists. Lutt had five digs, Kelsey Boyer picked up four digs, and Anderson and Armstrong each had two kills.
In the consolation match, the Blue Devils fell to Columbus Lakeview, 25-19, 25-22. Echtenkamp had 10 kills in the losing effort, Sandoz had six and Anderson and Lutt had three apiece. Vovos had nine assists while Sandoz added eight. Sandoz and Emily Matthes each had five digs, Armstrong picked up four digs and Anderson and Lutt had three kills apiece.
Wayne is 4-5 on the season. They host Guardian Angels Central Catholic on Tuesday.
