A 23-game Pony (14u) season concluded on July 2 for Wayne in the Tri County League finals.
Back in Emerson for a second straight night, #3 Wayne Ponies battled #1 Tekamah-Herman Purple.
Wayne suffered a 9-4 loss to end their season at 18-4-1.
Tekamah-Herman Purple started with two runs in the bottom of the first followed by a 2-1 advantage in the second to lead 4-1. After Wayne plated a single run in the top of the second, Tekamah-Herman Purple added two runs in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth. Wayne scored twice more in the top of the seventh.
Kash Haase and Liam Rockhill both singled and drove in a run.
Kian Pick, Brayden Stegemann and Colston Starzl all singled and scored as Mason Wendte accounted for a RBI and run scored.
Wendte (82 pitches) suffered the loss in two and two-thirds allowing four runs off two hits while striking out and walking six batters each.
Haase (53) worked two innings allowing five earned runs off three hits while striking out, walking and hitting two batters each. Stegemann (20) closed out the final inning and a third striking out three batters and walking one.
Both Pick and Starzl have been named to the Red All-Stars for the Red vs. Blue All-Star Pony game scheduled for Wednesday, July 9 in West Point. The Red All-Stars are being coached by the Pender Pony staff while Wakefield's Colt Johnson and Zeke Ramirez were also listed.
