Wayne Ponies win second straight home outing

Game two of the Tri County League for Pony Division teams closed out the weekend where Wayne was back on their home diamond.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne Ponies hosted Battle Creek #1 on May 18.

Wayne used another double figure run outing winning 13-2 to improve to 2-0.

Wayne began with five runs in the first inning before Battle Creek #1 put a run on the board in the top of the second. Wayne then followed with back-to-back four-run innings in the second and third to lead 13-1. Battle Creek #1 scored once more in the top of the fourth.

Final favored the Wayne Ponies winning 13-2 while outhitting their opponent, 7-5. Wayne committed one error compared to zero errors by Battle Creek #1.

Four of the seven base hits were two-baggers being led by Colston Starzl with a single, double, three RBI and a run scored.

Isaiah Zarate doubled and drove in two runs; Kian Pick doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as Brayden Stegemann doubled and scored.

Remyngton Rager singled, drove in a run and scored; Evan Greve singled and scored; Noah Magnuson plated three runs; Kash Haase crossed the plate twice as Merrick Mueller and  Mason Wendte both scored one run.

Miller (38 pitches) picked up the win in two and a third innings allowing one run off three hits while striking out five batters. Magnuson (18) worked the final inning allowing an earned run off two hits while striking out two batters.

The Wayne Ponies will next host Battle Creek #2 on May 22 in league play,  host a non-league game against Ponca (doubleheader) on May 27 and return to Tri County League action on May 29 at the Tri County Wolfpack in Emerson.
