Wayne Post 43, Wakefield Post 81 American Legion baseball scores from June 28 - July 1; Wayne Juniors June 25 result

Both Wayne Post 43 and Wakefield Post 81 Junior and Senior American Legion baseball teams were in action during the Ralph Bishop League Tournament which started on June 28. Finals are scheduled for July 5 in Wayne.

Wayne Seniors shutout Ponca, Hank Overin Field to host six more games

One day after the Post 43 Juniors moved a win away from the Ralph Bishop League American Legion finals, the Wayne Seniors were in search to follow.

Back at Hank Overin Field, North Division #1 Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 entertained #5 Ponca on July 1.

Wayne built an early 6-0 lead and let their defense do the rest winning 8-0 in five innings. The Post 43 Seniors are now 16-1 on the season.

Gavin Redden doubled, tripled, drove in a run and scored twice; Kaleb Moormeier singled twice, doubled, drove in two runs and scored three times while Jaxson Kneifl doubled and scored twice. Ethan Synovec also singled twice and drove in three runs.

Brodey Munter singled and scored; Alex Rodriguez and Brayden Rajaee-Hallgren both singled as Hayden Kelley accounted for a RBI.

Gavin Anderson (85 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout win in five innings allowing one hit while striking out five batters, walking five and hitting one.

North Division finals for the RBL tourney are scheduled for Thursday, July 3 in Wayne. Juniors competition will open at 5:30 p.m. for #1 Wayne vs. #2 Hartington followed by the Seniors action with #1 Wayne taking on #2 Hartington around 8 p.m.

The South Division Finals for the Juniors will showcase #1 West Point and #2 Pender along with #1 West Point and #3 Lakeview in the Seniors division played in West Point on July 3.

Hank Overin Field in Wayne will also host the Ralph Bishop League consolation and championship games on Saturday, July 5. Juniors third place will open at 11 a.m., followed by Seniors third place at 1:30 p.m., Juniors finals at 4 p.m. and Seniors finals at 6:30 p.m.

 

 

Wayne Juniors score late, advance to league semifinals

Following a win by forfeit over the weekend, North Division #1 Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 Juniors were back on the diamond.

From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, Post 43 entertained #4 Crofton on June 30 during the Ralph Bishop League Tournament.

With the game knotted up at 2-2 entering the home half of the sixth, Wayne's Easton Endicott recorded a sac fly RBI bringing in Jaxson Kneifl as the go-ahead run.

Post 43 held onto the 3-2 win to improve to 13-2.

Kneifl singled, tripled and scored twice while Endicott singled and drove in two runs.

Chase Nelson singled and scored as Chase Sturm accounted for a RBI.

Reece Ames (26 pitches) picked up the win in two innings of relief allowing one hit while striking out four batters.

Camden Hall (73) started the opening five innings allowing two runs (one earned) off two hits while striking out six batters, walking there and hitting three.

#1 Wayne will next host #2 Hartington in the North Division Finals on Thursday, July 3. The winner or loser will advance to championship Saturday on July 5 in Wayne against the winner or loser of the South Division finals played between #1 West Point and #2 Pender on July 3 in West Point.

Juniors consolation will be at 11 a.m. with Juniors finals at 4 p.m. on July 5 in Wayne. Seniors consolation will be at 1:30 p.m. and Seniors finals at 6:30 p.m. also in Wayne on July 5.

Wayne Seniors open league tourney with win, Redden goes yard 

After having a regular season game last canceled due to weather on June 25, Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 began the Ralph Bishop League Tournament on June 29.

From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, North Division #1 Post 43 welcomed #8 Plainview Post 148.

Scoring progressed in each of the first three innings which led to a 7-1 win for the Wayne Seniors. Post 43 improved to 15-1.

Gavin Redden singled twice, recorded a solo homerun and accounted for two RBI while Kaleb Moormeier doubled and drove in two runs.

Alex Rodriguez singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Jaxson Kneifl, Hayden Kelley and Gavin Anderson all singled and scored; Ethan Synovec singled; Chase Nelson accounted for a RBI as Drew Reinhardt scored.

Brodrick Tiedtke (87 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in seven innings allowing an earned run off five hits while striking out seven batters.

#1 Wayne next hosted #5 Ponca on July 1 winning 8-0 to advance to the July 3 North Division finals taking on #2 Hartington at 8 p.m.

 

 

Wakefield Seniors eliminated from league tourney

It was a battle Sunday evening to open the North Division of the Ralph Bishop League American Legion baseball tournament for the Wakefield Seniors.

From Hank Overin Field in Wayne, the Wakefield Post 81 Seniors (North #4 seed) competed against #5 Ponca on June 29.

Thanks to two runs plated in the top of the seventh, Ponca held onto the 3-2 victory as both teams finished with four hits.

Wakefield Post 81 was eliminated from the league tourney falling to 7-10.

Jesse Lundahl singled twice, drove in a run and scored while Matthew Metzler singled and drove in a run.

Ruben Vega singled as Adrian Flores scored.

Lundahl (105 pitches) suffered the complete game loss in seven innings allowing three runs off four hits while striking out 11 batters and walking one.

Next up for the Wakefield Post 81 Seniors will be a home game on Friday, July 4 against New Zealand Triple Stars 19u at 7 p.m. from Eaton Field. The Wakefield Juniors (4-9) will face Lincoln RBI at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 4 at Eaton Field.

 

 

Wakefield Juniors fall in high scoring contest

A combined 21 runs crossed the plate to open the Ralph Bishop League American Legion baseball tournament for the Wakefield Post 81 Juniors in the North Division.

From Crofton, #5 Post 81 visited #4 Crofton on June 28.

Crofton plated five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 11-10 as Wakefield Post 81 was eliminated from the league tourney falling to 4-9. Wakefield outhit Crofton, 12-11.

Turner Thompson singled three times, doubled, drove in four runs and scored; Tristan Connell singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored as Jacob Birkley singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice.

Tanner Thompson, Ruben Vega, Benny Palma and Will Benson all singled and scored as Matthew Metzler scored twice.

Turner Thompson (19 pitches) closed out the game suffering the loss not recording an out. He allowed two earned runs off one hit while walking one batter and hitting two.

Connell (6) started and didn't record an out walking two batters. Birkley (99) worked six and a third innings allowing nine runs (five earned) off 10 hits while striking out seven batters and hitting three.

Next up for the Wakefield Post 81 Juniors will be a home game on Friday, July 4 against  Lincoln RBI at 4 p.m. The Wakefield Seniors (7-10) will face New Zealand Triple Stars 19u at 7 p.m. from Eaton Field also on July 4.

 

 

 

Wayne Juniors win ahead of league tournament, Seniors game canceled

Ahead of a week-long American Legion baseball league tournament, Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 took to the road on June 25.

Due to weather in the Seniors game, only the Wayne Juniors were able to complete their game.

From Arlington, Post 43 won 10-0 to improve to 12-2. The Wayne Seniors did lead 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning of their game before being canceled and remained 14-1 entering the weekend.

During the Juniors contest, Jaxson Kneifl singled, doubled and scored three times; Brodey Munter singled twice and drove in a run as Chase Sturm doubled, drove in two runs and scored.

James Birkel singled, drove in two runs and scored; Parker Patefield singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Reece Ames and Spencer Moormeier both singled and drove in a run; Camden Hall singled and scored; Easton Endicott accounted for a RBI and run scored as Chase Nelson scored.

Endicott (79 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout win in five innings allowing one hit while striking out seven batters and waking three.

In the Ralph Bishop League North Division first round, #1 Wayne Post 43 Juniors won by forfeit over #8 Pierce on June 28 due to low numbers.
