The following information was provided by Wayne Community Schools' Superintendent Dr. Mark Lenihan in regard to a situation at the school today (Friday).

"On Friday, January 30, 2026, at approximately 10:15 a.m. Wayne Jr/Sr High School received a phone call threatening an act of violence toward the school. A second similar call was received at the Elementary school a few minutes later.

"Upon receiving the threatening phone call, the school district immediately placed all buildings in lockdown status and law enforcement officials were contacted.

"Responding law enforcement set up at each school location and sweeps were done of the interior and exterior of the buildings. No credible threat was discovered. Law enforcement remained on locations until decisions were made by school administration for release of the students.
