Wayne scored seven runs with two outs and pulled away for an easy 10-1 win over South Sioux City in high school baseball action Thursday at Hank Overin Field.

The Blue Devils struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Gunnar Jorgensen lined a two-out single to center, scoring Victor Kniesche. Jorgensen later came home on a bloop single by Brennan O’Reilly to make it a 2-0 game.

After South Sioux City used two errors to score a run in the second, Wayne erupted for four runs — all with two outs — to take control of the game.

Hagan Miller started the second-inning rally with a line drive single that scored Kaleb Anderson. Miller scored on a Jorgensen single, and two more runs came home when Trevor DeBoer doubled to right, scoring Kniesche and Jorgensen to make it 6-1.

Wayne go another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by DeBoer, scoring Brock Hopkins. They sealed the game with three runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Jacob Kneifl, scoring Blake Bartos, and a two-run double by Miller, scoring Anderson and Kniesche.

That was more than enough for Kneifl, who allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five to get the win. Drew Buck pitched two innings of hitless relief, striking out four and walking two.

Miller, Jorgensen and Reid Korth each had two hits to lead an 11-hit attack. Miller and DeBoer each had three RBI’s in the game. DeBoer, Korth, Miller and Zane Jackson all had doubles in the game.

Wayne, 3-3, hosts Blair on Saturday at Hank Overin Field.
