Wayne softball wins road opener

After playing their opening four games at the Wayne Softball Complex, WHS took to the road for a late August outing.

From O'Neill on Tuesday, Wayne High picked up a 7-0 win to improve to 4-1 and have now won four straight.

Mackenzie Nissen singled, doubled twice and drove in a run while Courtney Roeber singled and doubled. Jordyn Gamble drove in a team-high two runs (single and run scored) Lilly Johnson led the team in runs scored with two.

Nissen (81 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout victory in seven innings allowing four hits while striking out six batters and walking one. 

Wayne High will next visit Tekamah-Herman on Thursday, August 28 with JV starting at 5 p.m. followed by varsity.
