Wayne State awards degrees to 285 graduating students

Wayne State College held a graduation ceremony for undergraduate and graduate students on Dec. 17 at 1:30 p.m. in the Rice Auditorium.

President Marysz Rames welcomed everyone to the ceremony first and then the “The Star Spangled Banner” was sang by graduating music student Abigail Robinson and Dr. Sarah Farr, Associate Professor of Music.

Three students - Tanner Johnston, Sabrina Sack, and Emma Todd - spoke at the ceremony. Then, Mr. Carter “Cap” Peterson, a Trustee of the Nebraska State College System, gave his greetings from the board. Following him, President Rames and Kevin Armstrong, CEO of the Wayne State Foundation, presented the Alumni Achievement Award to Dr. Glenda Gallisath. The award is presented to a graduate who has attained outstanding achievement in his or her career and/or through community service and has provided support to WSC.

Steven Elliott, Vice President for Academic Affairs, did the presentation of candidates for degree while President Rames confered the degrees. Dr. Anne Power, Dean of the School of Business and Technology, presented the Baccalaureate candidates with Vice President Elliott presenting the Graduate candidates after.
