The Wayne State men were picked to finish seventh and the women were tabbed for 12th place in the NSIC indoor track and field coaches’ polls released earlier this week.

Juniors Derek Lahm and Braxton Adams were listed as Wildcats to watch this season on the men’s team.  Last year, Wayne State finished eighth at the NSIC Indoor Championships with 34 points.

Adams was fourth in the 60-meter dash at last year’s NSIC Indoor Championships after qualifying for the NCAA Indoor nationals as a freshman.

Lahm was a medical redshirt last season after scoring points in three events as a sophomore in 2015. He was fourth in the heptathlon and seventh in the long jump and triple jump.

Junior Michaela Dendinger and senior Melissa Kroll were listed as Wildcats to watch this season in women’s action.

Kroll was listed as Wayne State’s track athlete to watch while junior Michaela Dendinger was selected as the Wildcat field athlete to watch this year. Dendinger was a medical redshirt last year with a foot injury after placing fourth in the shot put and weight throw as a sophomore in 2015.

Wayne State opens the 2016-17 indoor season on Friday, Dec. 2 at the South Dakota State Holiday Preseason Open in Brookings, S.D.
