Wayne State sweeps NSIC South Division honors

It was a clean sweep for the Wayne State basketball teams, as both the men’s and women’s basketball team had players honors by the Northern Sun Conference as South Division Players of the Week.

On the men’s side, Jordan Janssen was named as the NSIC South Division Player of the Week after averaging a double-double in wins over Concordia (Neb.) and Central Missouri. He had 20 points and 16 rebounds in a 92-70 win over the Bulldogs, and followed that with a 20-point, 11-rebound effort in a 73-63 win over Central Missouri.

Jordan has six double-doubles in eight games this season and is averaging a double-double with 18.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest. He stands seventh in the NSI in scoring and fourth in rebounds.

Norling was named the women’s Player of the Week in the NSIC South for her efforts in two road wins last week. She scored a career-high 32 points in a 78-65 win at South Dakota Mines, and followed that with a 28-point effort in an 84-74 win at Black Hills State.

Norling shot 72.7 percent from the field in the two wins and had 12 offensive rebounds in two games. She also posted a career-best in rebounds with 12 in the win over Black Hills State.

Norling leads the NSIC in scoring at 23.4 points per game and is sixth in rebounding with 8.0 per game.
