Wayne State’s football team will be featured live for three games of the 2017 season as part of an expanded live coverage of Northern Sun Conference football.

The NSIC and Midco Sports Network announced that two of the three Wildcat games featured live will be played on a Thursday night as part of the NSIC Game of the Week. Those games are Sept. 14 at Minnesota Crookston and Oct. 12 at home against University of Sioux Falls. A third game will be on Midco Channel 1 or 2 when the Wildcats play at Augustana on Sept. 30.

The NSIC announced an expanded one-year agreement with Midco Sports Network for live coverage of 20 football games in the 2017 season on Friday. The partnership will include 11 weeks of the “NSIC Thursday Night Game of the Week,” airing each week from Aug. 31 through Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. on MidcoSN. The live broadcast schedule will also include various Saturday games throughout the season.

Additionally, MidcoSN will expand its coverage of the NSIC/Sanford Health Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments. MidcoSN will add the Saturday and Sunday quarterfinal games to its existing coverage of semifinal and championship games. All fourteen games of the tournament will be produced and aired live on MidcoSN.

“Midco has been a tremendous supporter of the NSIC over the years, and we are thrilled to be able to continue to grow our partnership, exposing the region to the first-class institutions and incredible student-athletes that compete in the NSIC,” said NSIC Commissioner Erin Lind.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with the NSIC. The newly created “NSIC Thursday Night Game of the Week” along with the additional conference tournament basketball games give fans all across the region a compelling reason to tune in. The NSIC is a great conference that aligns with our goal of providing viewers with exciting live game action,” said Mark Powell, VP of MidcoSN.

Wayne State will conclude 2017 spring football drills on Saturday with its annual year-ending scrimmage at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne starting at 1 p.m. The Wildcats open the 2017 season on Thursday, Aug. 31 at Northern State in a 6 p.m. contest.
