Wayne State tracksters compete in Iowa meets

Brady Metz and Clay Kramper each posted second place finishes to lead the Wayne State College track and field teams Friday at the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
Metz recorded a second place finish in the triple jump (47-2 1/2) while Kramper placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.76 to lead the Wayne State College men. 
Braxton Adams collected a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash at 11.07 seconds while Justin Brueggemann took 13th in the 5,000-meter run at 15:22.97. 
Wayne State had two relays that qualified for the Drake Relays, as the 400-meter relay team of Brandon Marker, Adams, Kramper and Jordan Zautke placed 20th with a time of 42.65 seconds while the distance medley relay team of Brueggemann, Marker, Nick Schmit and Nicholas Fly ran a time of 10:28.55 to finish 15th out of 17 entries.
Bryan Dunn competed on Thursday in the hammer throw at the Hastings GPAC Preview Meet and took third place with a top mark of 173-5.
Melissa Kroll recorded an impressive third-place showing in the 400-meter dash to lead the Wayne State women at the Kip Janvrin Open Friday night, crossing the line with a time of 59.23 seconds. She also finished 15th in the 200-meter dash in 26.98 seconds. Ellen Wulf took ninth place in the long jump with a leap of 17-1 1/2. 
Kelsey Dietrich was 16th in the 200-meter dash (27.04) and 18th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.67).
Kacie O’Connor qualified in the discus for the Drake Relays Friday and was 22nd out of 28 competitors with a throw of 142-7. She also competed Thursday in the Hastings GPAC Preview and finished second at 148-7.
Wayne State will compete Friday and Saturday at the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls, S.D.
