Wayne suffers home triangular defeat

With three home triangular matches on the schedule for Wayne High volleyball, the first took place Tuesday evening.

From the Wayne Jr/Sr High School gymnasium, the Blue Devils welcomed both Columbus Lakeview and Norfolk Catholic.

Wayne High was first swept by Lakeview (16-25, 17-25) before falling in three sets against the Knights (25-21, 10-25, 11-25). The Blue Devils are now 8-7 on the season.

From the loss against Norfolk Catholic, junior Haley Kramer recorded eight kills and nine digs; sophomore Mallory Redden posted 17 assists, nine digs, one solo block and one kill as junior Jacen Hasemann led the team in digs with 15.

Junior Elle Powicki and senior Amelia Legler (solo block) both had seven kills and a dig as junior Megan Magnuson and sophomore Alexis Legler both added two kills and a dig. Other digs came from sophomore Addison Frank (five).

Kramer also finished with three service aces.

The Wayne High volleyball third home triangular will be played on Tuesday, October 8 against Pierce and Boone Central.
