Wayne Superintendent provides update on first day of school

The following information was provided by Wayne Community Schools' Superintendent Dr. Mark Lenihan in regard to schedule changes for upcoming events and the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

"As most of you are aware, the Junior /Senior High School building was under construction with renovations to several classrooms, a new and updated fire alarm system, and an addition added to the east side of the building this summer.

"The construction crew did an excellent job getting this large project to completion this summer, and we are excited to work in the new and updated facilities. The work will be complete soon, and our staff will need one extra day to prepare the classrooms, and make sure the building is clean and ready for school to begin.

"Therefore, the All School Open House will be moved to Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 5 -7 p.m., and school will begin for all students grades k-12 on Thursday, Aug. 15 with a noon dismissal. We are doing this to make sure the teachers have time to prepare their classrooms, and the maintenance staff has time to do a final cleaning of the Jr/Sr High School building," Dr. Lenihan said.

"We hope to see many of you at the Open House on Aug. 13, and we look forward to the start of the 2024-25 school year on Aug. 15," he added.
