The Wayne High volleyball team earned consolation honors at the Ord Invitational on Saturday, defeating O’Neill (25-13, 25-17), losing to the host Chanticleers (25-18, 24-26, 25-16) and defeating Lutheran High Northeast (25-22, 21-25, 27-25).
In the O’Neill win, Kylie Hammer led the attack with 10 kills, Lauren Pick added seven and Emily Armstrong had four. Allyson Avery had 21 assists. Pick had three blocks, Korrina Niemann had 12 digs, Hammer added 10 and Ashton Boyer had six.
In the semifinal match with Ord, Pick had 12 kills, Hammer had five, Shania Anderson had four and Armstrong and Boyer each had three. Avery had 14 assists and Erin O’Reilly had five. Pick had four blocks and Armstrong had two. Hammer recorded 13 digs, Niemann had eight, Armstrong had seven and Boyer had six.
In the consolation game, Pick had a great match with 16 kills, Anderson added nine, Armstrong had seven, Hammer had six and Boyer had four. Avery had 21 assists and O’Reilly had four. Niemann and Pick both had two service aces. Niemann led the defense with 19 digs, Hammer had 16, Boyer had 14 and Armstrong had nine.
Wayne will be home on Tuesday to face Norfolk Catholic.
