Wayne volleyball leaders following 3-2 finish in Wisner

It was a busy five-match in three day schedule for the Wayne High volleyball team who found themselves competing for an in-season title.

From Wisner-Pilger, the Blue Devils began the Jean Groth Volleyball Classic on September 4 with 2-0 sweeps over the host Gators (25-13, 25-14) and West Point-Beemer (25-12, 25-18).

The Blue Devils then went 1-2 during the Gold Division on September 6 starting with a 2-1 loss to Oakland-Craig (18-25, 25-21, 16-25) and 2-0 loss against GACC (18-25, 21-25) before ending with a 2-1 win over North Bend (25-13, 22-25, 25-23).

Wayne High is now 5-2 on the season.

Seniors Haley Kramer (one double-double/41 digs/six service aces) and Elle Powicki (five blocks) both accumulated 31 total kills while sophomore Kamden Dobbins added 29 kills and 32 digs with one double-double.

Junior Mallory Redden totaled 104 assists and 39 digs as junior Addision Frank recorded a team-high 58 digs in five matches.

Junior Alexis Legler picked up eight blocks (three solo).

The Wayne High volleyball team will next host Logan View/Scribner-Snyder on September 11 starting at 5 p.m.

WHS will also travel to the North Bend Central Invite on September 13 and visit GACC on September 16 starting at 6 p.m.
