Seven straight home matches were held over a period of five days for Wayne High volleyball.
From both the Wayne Jr/Sr High School gymnasium and elementary school, the Wayne High Invite showcased six teams on Saturday.
Wayne High opened with a sweep over Chambers/Wheeler Central (25-11, 25-9) followed by a three-set loss against Wisner-Pilger (20-25, 25-18, 21-25). A third match favored Wayne sweeping the Archangels Catholic Defenders (25-21, 25-15).
Wayne High is now 11-9 on the season.
In the win over CWC, junior Elle Powicki led the team in kills with six and digs with eight while sophomore Mallory Redden posted six assists and four digs. Wayne used a .378 attack percentage.
Sophomore Alexis Legler followed with three kills, two digs and a solo block; junior Haley Kramer and senior Amelia Legler (two solo blocks/one dig) both had two kills as junior Megan Magnuson tallied one kill and a solo block. Other digs came from sophomore Addison Frank (seven), junior Jacen Hasemann (two), freshman Kamden Dobbins (two), freshman Alexsa De Paz (one) and sophomore Naomi Lipp (one).
Redden finished with seven aces, Alexis Legler added three aces as Powicki and Amelia Legler both had an ace.
During the loss against Wisner-Pilger, Powicki (10 digs) and Kramer (20 digs/one block) both had nine kills; Redden posted 29 assists, seven digs, one kill and a solo block as Frank led Wayne in digs with 28. Wayne was held to a .252 attack percentage.
Lipp added six kills, three digs and two blocks (one solo); Amelia Legler followed with five kills, seven digs and three blocks (one solo) and Alexis Legler tallied two kills, three digs and two solo blocks. Other digs came from Hasemann (eight).
Amelia Legler finished with three service aces, Kramer had two aces as Powicki and Alexis Legler both tacked on an ace.
From the victory over Archangels Catholic, Redden recorded a double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs to go along with one kill. Kramer finished with a team-high 11 kills, eight digs and two blocks as Frank led Wayne in digs with 15 followed by Hasemann with 11 digs. Wayne recorded a .342 attack percentage.
Powicki finished with five kills, five digs and one block; Lipp added four kills, two digs and a block; Amelia Legler tallied three kills and three blocks as Alexis Legler tacked on one kill, three digs and one block.
Redden, Hasemann and Alexis Legler each had an ace.
