Wayne White Broncos, Didgets split with Pierce Blue

A start of back-to-back home Tri County League youth baseball games were on the schedule for the Wayne White Broncos and Didgets.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne White Broncos suffered a 9-2 loss while the Wayne White Didgets held onto a 7-6 victory on May 21. The Wayne White Broncos fell to 1-1 as Wayne White Didgets moved to 2-1.

In the Broncos outing, the game was tied at 2-2 through four innings until Pierce Blue scored twice in the top of the fifth and added five runs in the sixth. Wayne outhit Pierce, 4-0.  

Sy Chase singled twice and scored as Braden McManigal doubled, drove in a run and scored for the Wayne White Broncos.

Mason Nelson also singled.

McManigal (54 pitches) suffered the loss in an inning and a third of relief allowing seven runs (five earned) while striking out five batters, walking six and hitting one. Nelson (67) started the opening four innings allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out six batters, walking three and hitting two. Chase (13) closed out the final two-thirds striking out one batter and hitting two.

During the Didgets contest, Wayne White scored the game tying and game go ahead runs in the home half of the fifth to edge Pierce Blue, 7-6.

Kirby Gubbels doubled twice, drove in four runs and scored twice; Maxx Wohlers singled, doubled and drove in two runs as Lincoln Nelson singled twice and scored twice. 

Wyatt Holz singled, drove in a run and scored as Conner Fox scored twice.

Wohlers (10 pitches) appeared in the final inning allowing one hit while striking out two batters. Beckett  Miller (12) started an inning allowing three earned runs while striking out one batter and hitting three. Gubbels (77) worked three innings allowing three earned runs off two hits while striking out eight batters and walking six.
