Race number two is now complete for the Wayne cross country runners as the athletes now rest their legs for their home meet on September 15.
It was another busy mid-morning race this time from Skyview Lake during the Norfolk Catholic Invite on September 12.
The Wayne High girls finished third with 57 points while the Blue Devil boys placed fifth with 76 points. The Wayne JV boys team won their division with 17 points.
FreshmanTayla Hurner paced the Wayne High varsity girls taking silver in a time of 20:28.2. She was followed by senior Lilyan Hurner in 12th (22:40.1) and freshman Elizabeth Hix took 17th (22:50.1).
Other Blue Devil girls results came from sophomore Mariana Nexticapan Hernandez (37th - 24:26.9), senior Kennasyn Blecke (45th - 25:12.6), senior Josie Ley (50th - 25:20.7), sophomore Karla Wynia (58th - 26:03.4), sophomore Hannah Brogren (67th - 28:07) and senior Sharon Vasquez (90th - 37:44.1).
Crofton won the girls team division with 17 points followed by Boone Central in runner-up (48). Freshman Avery Arens from Crofton finished first among the 91 runners on the 5k course in a time of 17:57.9.
Junior Emmanuel Gonzalez was the top runner for the Wayne High varsity boys crossing the line in 18th place during a time of 18:51.13. He was followed by fellow junior Alvaro Archundia in 19th (18:56.51).
Other Blue Devil boys results came from junior Camden Hall (23rd - 19:03.04), junior Landen Claussen (24th - 19:13.32), sophomore Grady Maas (27th - 19:19.08) and freshman Colston Starzl (31st - 19:36.41).
Norfolk Catholic won the boys team division with 32 points followed by O'Neill in runner-up (48). Senior Brenden Bolling from Pierce finished first among the 82 runners on the 5k course in a time of 17:00.2.
In the JV boys race, junior Gabriel Armstrong was first in a time of 19:28.21 among the 62 runners, junior Lance Brink placed third (19:55), junior Thomas Raymundo finished sixth (20:28.39) and senior Boden Dobbins took seventh (20:34.25).
Other JV results went to senior Aidan Bohnert (13th - 21:08.39), freshman Daniel Kuchta (14th - 21:22), freshman Clifton Kaup (19th - 22:12.18), freshman Jacob Fehringer (22nd - 22:34.19), sophomore Ethan Samuelson (25th - 22:48.29), freshman Gerson Torrez (26th - 22:56), freshman Isaiah Zarate (28th - 23:11.43), junior Julian Garcia (39th - 24:44.26), freshman Dreu Jensen (40th - 24:55), senior Jaxon Lindner (41st - 25:07.27), freshman Max Brink (42nd - 25:12.06), junior Cale Eischeid (47th - 26:16.27), junior Bryan Hernandez (54th - 27:27.21) and sophomore Hugo Reyes (62nd - 37:30.56).
In the junior high division for the 2k race, the Wayne seventh and eighth grade girls were crowned champion with 45 points while no score was posted for the the Blue Devil junior high runners due to a few errors in the middle school official results.
Eighth grader Hadley Dunklau led the Wayne junior high girls with a runner-up finish in a time of 7:38.23. She was followed by fellow eighth grader Sarah Kuchta in sixth (7:44.23).
Other results were posted by seventh grader Kiley Dutcher (16th - 8:17.53), seventh grader Marissa Brink (23rd - 8:35.54), seventh grader Schyler Wiseman (30th - 8:42.32), seventh grader Alexis Ptacek (31st- 8:42.38), eighth grader Rose Kaup (40th - 8:57.08), seventh grader Cora Surber (43rd - 9:01.17), eighth grader Alyssa Bargholz (45th - 9:08.09), eighth grader Molly Allemann (49th - 9:13.03), seventh grader AnaBelle Cook (62nd - 9:48.16), eighth grader Pashynce Owens-Webb (64th - 9:55.02), seventh grader Konstynce Owens-Webb (65th - 10:24.35) and seventh grader Gracie Naeve (87th - 12:07.55).
Eighth grader Benjamin Patefield led the Wayne junior high boys with a 10th place finish in a time of 7:26.52. He was followed by seventh grader Calvin Lipp (14th - 7:35).
Other results were posted by eighth grader Owen Wynia (19th - 7:49.33), seventh grader Tyson Hoffman (49th - 8:43.39), seventh grader Callan Sims (74th - 9:29.49), seventh grader Mason Mendez (84th - 10:08.54) and seventh grader Grant Law (95th - 11:11.29).
Behind the Wayne JH girls 45 points, Norfolk Catholic middle school was second (76) while Norfolk middle school won the boys junior high division (40). Among the 88 junior high girls, eighth grader Mercy Kann from Norfolk Catholic middle school was the top finisher on the 2k course with no time posted as eighth grader Hank Johnson from Elkhorn Valley middle school crossed the line first among the 100 junior high boys in a time of 6:42.27.
Next up for the Wayne cross country program will be their home invite on Monday, September 15 from the Wayne Country Club.
Race one will start at 3 p.m. for high school girls (5k), followed by high school boys (5k) around 3:45 p.m., junior high girls (3k) will run at 4:20 p.m., junior high boys (3k) at 4:50 p.m. and the final race will be the PMC P.A.L.S (Pushing All LimitS) running a 1K at 5:20 p.m. It is also parent's night for the Wayne cross country team.
