Five Wayne youth baseball teams competed in Tri County League play in the past week.
The Wayne White Broncos and Didgets visited the West Point Dodgers on June 9; Wayne Blue Broncos and Didgets played at Stanton Orange on June 9; Wayne White Broncos hosted a make-up game on June 8 while the Wayne Ponies traveled to Tekamah (June 8) and hosted North Bend (June 5).
On June 4, the Wayne White Broncos and Didgets visited Winnebago Blue while Wayne Blue Broncos and Didgets traveled to Oakland Orange.
Wayne White:
Monday youth baseball stole the show for Wayne White in West Point for a doubleheader in Tri County League play.
The June 9 doubleheader favored the Wayne White Broncos winning 19-4 while the Wayne White Didgets picked up an 8-6 victory at the West Point Dodgers. Both Wayne teams are now 6-1 on the season.
In the Broncos outing, Maxon Judd singled three times, drove in three runs and scored three times; Gage Kimmel singled, doubled, drove in four runs and scored three times; Braden McManigal singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as Caysen Gamble doubled, drove in a run and scored twice.
Aiden Kesting singled twice, drove in three runs and scored; Mason Nelson singled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Ryan Loberg singled, drove in a run and scored three times; Sutton Saltzman accounted for a RBI and run scored; Aden Greve added a RBI as single runs came from Sy Chase and Zylis Hewitt.
Kimmel (68 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in four innings allowing four runs (two earned) off three hits while striking out six batters and walking three.
During the Didgets contest, Baylen Biermann tripled and scored while Trexton Ocampo singled and drove in three runs.
Beckett Miller singled, drove in two runs and scored; Isaac McPhillips singled and drove in a run; Weston Nelson singled and scored; Wyatt Holz and Roydaine Wolf-Gibson both accounted for a RBI and run scored; Lincoln Nelson scored twice as Kirby Gubbels scored.
Holz (34 pitches) started the opening third of an inning allowing four earned runs off three hits while striking out one batter and walking three.
Gubbels (59) worked an inning and two-thirds allowing two earned runs while striking out five batters, walking five and hitting one. Maxx Wohlers (30) pitched two and a third innings allowing three hits while striking out four batters.
Also on Wednesday, June 11, Wayne White Broncos (6-2) lost 7-6 and Wayne White Didgetes (7-1) won 7-5 at Pierce White. Next league games will be Monday, June 16 vs. Battle Creek #1 at 6/7:45 p.m.
The Wayne Broncos Tourney team and Wayne Didgets Tourney team will also be combined for the Wayne Youth Baseball Tournament June 13 - 15.
In the Broncos Division, Wayne will open against Wisner at 5 p.m. on Friday. During the Didgets Division, Wayne will start Friday night at 5 p.m. against Hartington and also face Crofton at 9 p.m.
Wayne Blue:
Ahead of a home weekend tournament for combined Wayne youth baseball teams, the Wayne Blue Broncos and Didgets were in action during Tri County League regular season play on Monday, June 9.
From Stanton Orange, the Wayne Blue Broncos won 16-1 to improve to 4-2 as the Wayne Blue Didgets picked up a 9-1 victory to now sit 5-2 in league play.
During the Broncos outing, Julian Contreras recorded an inside the park grand slam, doubled, totaled six RBI and three runs scored as Ayser Titiml singled twice and scored four times.
Mason Rhods singled and scored four times; Hudson Kramer and Dexter McIntosh both accounted for a RBI; Cohen Woehler scored twice as single runs came from Heath Poland, Bradley Hanson and Brody Virgil.
Contreras (63 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in five innings allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out 11 batters and walking one.
In the Didgets contest, Ryan Magnuson doubled and scored three runs while also picking up five stolen bases. Graham Sharpe added a triple and two RBI.
Lincoln Masters picked up the win in four shutout innings not allowing a hit while striking out seven batters.
Also on Wednesday, June 11, the Wayne Blue Broncos (4-3) lost 9-8 and Wayne Blue Didgets (6-2) won 9-3 vs. Wisner. Next league doublheaders will be vs. Tilden on Monday, June 16 at 6/7:30 p.m. Also, Wayne Blue Broncos will host Homer on Friday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. (following the tourney game).
The Wayne Broncos Tourney team and Wayne Didgets Tourney team will also be combined for the Wayne Youth Baseball Tournament June 13 - 15.
In the Broncos Division, Wayne will open against Wisner at 5 p.m. on Friday before facing North Bend (1 p.m.) and Logan View (7 p.m.) on Saturday. During the Didgets Division, Wayne will start Friday night at 5 p.m. against Hartington and also face Crofton at 9 p.m. along with a Sunday game taking on Milford at 9 a.m.
Wayne White Broncos only:
While the Wayne Blue Broncos will be playing their rescheduled game at Battle Creek #1 on June 19, the Wayne White Bronco youth baseball team held their make up game against the other Battle Creek team (#2) on Sunday, June 8.
From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne White Broncos picked up a 17-6 win to improve at the time 5-1.
Caysen Gamble singled twice, doubled, drove in five runs and scored three times; Braden McManigal singled twice, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice; Aiden Kesting singled three times, drove in two runs and scored three times as Sy Chase singled, doubled and scored.

Chase (74 pitches) started the opening two and two-thirds allowing five earned runs off three hits while striking out seven batters, walking five and hitting two. Loberg (41) worked two and a third innings allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out six batters and hitting one.
Wayne Ponies:
With just four regular season Tri County League Pony youth baseball games remaining, Wayne's 14u team recently posted double figure runs for the fifth time this summer.
From Tekamah, the Wayne Ponies visited Tekamah-Herman Gold on Sunday, June 8.
Wayne won 15-4 to improve to 8-0-1 overall and 7-0 in league play.
Kash Haase singled, doubled, drove in four runs and scored three times; Dreu Jensen singled, doubled and scored twice as Colston Starzl doubled and scored three times. Brayden Stegemann also singled twice, drove in four runs and scored.
Mason Wendte singled, drove in four runs and scored twice; Blake Heithold singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Merrick Miller and Remyngton Rager both singled as single runs were scored by Easton Gamble and Grant Reeg.
Stegemann (47 pitches) started the opening three innings allowing two earned runs off two hits while striking out and walking three batters each. Heithold (31) worked two innings allowing two runs (one earned) off one hit while striking out three batters and walking two.
Next up for the Wayne Ponies will be league games at Logan View on Thursday, June 12 at 7 p.m. and vs. Stanton on Sunday, June 15 at 7 p.m.
Wayne will also compete in the Pony Division of the Wayne Youth Baseball Tournament against Pierce at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 13 and also face both O'Neill (11 a.m.) and Creighton (7 p.m.) on Saturday at the Summer Sports Complex.
Wayne Ponies:
For the second time this season, the Wayne Pony youth baseball team recorded a shutout victory.
From the Summer Sports Complex, the Tri County League Wayne Ponies picked up an 8-0 win over North Bend on June 5.
Wayne improved to 7-0-1 overall (6-0 league play).
During the 14u outing, Remyngton Rager singled and scored twice while Noah Magnuson and Brayden Stegemann both singled and scored.
Colston Starzl singled; Kian Pick accounted for two RBI and a run scored; Merrick Miller added two RBI; Liam Rockhill scored twice as Kash Haase crossed the plate once.
Mason Wendte (69 pitches) picked up the complete game victory in five innings not allowing a run or a hit. He posted 10 strikeouts and hit one batter.
Wayne White:
It was a tale of two games with a high scoring night cap and a low scoring first game where the Wayne White Broncos and Didgets visited Winnebago Blue in early June.
On June 4, the Wayne White Broncos picked up a 26-4 win to improve to 4-1 as the Wayne White Didgets suffered their first loss of the season (5-1) following a 4-3 defeat.
During the Broncos contest, Ryan Loberg doubled, tripled, drove in four runs and scored three times; Gage Kimmel singled, tripled, drove in four runs and scored as Sutton Saltzman singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored three times.
Braden McManigal also singled three times, drove in two runs and scored four times.
Mason Nelson singled, drove in a run and scored four runs; Sy Chase singled and scored four runs; Maxon Judd singled, drove in a run and scored; Aden Greve singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Caysen Gamble and Aiden Kesting both singled and scored twice as Zylis Hewitt accounted for a RBI.
Nelson (74 pitches) started the opening three innings allowing three earned runs off two hits while striking out five batters and walking six. McManigal (26) worked an inning allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out one batter, walking two and hitting two.
From the Didgets outing, Kirby Gubbels singled twice and drove in two runs while Lincoln Nelson singled twice and scored.
Owen Judd singled and scored; Maxx Wohlers singled; Brett DePew accounted for a RBI as Wyatt Holz scored.
Gubbels (63) started the opening two and a third innings allowing three runs (two earned) off one hit while striking out seven batters and walking three.
Baylen Biermann (6) didn't record an out allowing an earned run off one hit while walking one batter. Wohlers (24) closed out the final two innings allowing two hits while striking out three batters.
Wayne Blue:
Tri County League youth baseball took to the road for the Wayne Blue Broncos and Didgets.
From Oakland, Wayne visited Oakland-Craig Orange on Wednesday, June 4.
The Wayne Blue Broncos suffered an 11-7 loss falling to 3-2 as the Wayne Blue Didgets secured a 12-0 victory improving to 4-2.
In the Broncos outing, Julian Contreras doubled and drove in two runs while Mason Rhods singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice.
Hudson Kramer and Heath Poland both singled and scored; Trey Wardlow and Ayser Titiml both singled; Harley Poland accounted for two RBI and a run scored as single runs came from Cohen Woehler and Dexter McIntosh.
Titiml (62 pitches) started the opening inning and two-thirds allowing seven runs (four earned) off three hits while striking out two batters, walking six and hitting one.
Kramer (70) worked two and two-thirds allowing four runs while striking out seven batters and walking four. Contreras (8) closed out the final two-thirds striking out one batter.
During the Didgets game, Ryan Magnuson went two-for-three with a double, two RBI and three runs scored while Crispin Ptacek added a double and two RBI.
Finn McElroy picked up the win in three innings allowing one hit while striking out seven batters.
Owen Wragge worked two innings allowing one hit while striking out three batters.
