With two home invites on the schedule for Wayne High track & field, the first Wayne Invite also showcased Wakefield.
From Kern Track at Wayne Community Schools, eight girls teams and eight boys teams made up Tuesday's Wayne Invite.
The Wayne High girls finished sixth with 36 points while the Blue Devil boys took eighth with 27 points. Head Wayne track and field coach Jacob Daum, stated there were 23 personal bests set by the Blue Devils.
The Wakefield girls totaled three points to place eighth as the Trojan boys finished fifth with 49 points.
In the girls division, Scotus Central Catholic was crowned champion with 132.66 points, Lakeview followed in runner-up (101), Boone Central took third (99.33), Pierce placed fourth (75) and David City rounded out the top five teams with 51 points.
The Wayne High girls were led by an event champion junior Elle Powicki winning the 100-meter hurdles (15.94).
Freshman Alivia Kesting took third in the 800-meter run (2:33.85) along with junior Lilyan Hurner earning bronze in the 3200-meter run (13:14.61).
In relay action, the Wayne 4x400 of junior Nyla Bolles, Powicki, freshman Kamden Dobbins and Kesting collected a silver medal (4:26.25); the 4x800 of Kesting, senior Josie Ley, Bolles and Hurner placed fourth in 11:04.47 while the 4x100 of Bolles, junior Jacen Hasemann, sophomore Addison Frank and Dobbins took sixth (54.82).
The Wayne girls distance freshman medley of Mariluz Mateo Segundo, Ivette Ozuna, Josalynn Young and Sidney Nelson placed sixth (6:15.13).
Top performers for the Wakefield girls were senior Alli Brown earned a sixth place medal in the 400-meter dash (1:07.42).
The Wakefield girls distance freshman medley relay of Gabriella Hoffart, Kimberly Solano, Rihanna Rivera and Naomi Nelson took fifth in 5:48.75.
During the boys action, Lakeview was crowned champion with 125 points, Boone Central followed in runner-up (122), Pierce took third (72), Scotus Central Catholic placed fourth (60) and Wakefield rounded out the top five teams with 49 points.
The Wayne High boys were led by sophomore Emmanuel Gonzalez took third in the 800-meter run (2:15.04) and junior Drew Miller placed fourth in the 3200-meter run (11:03.20);
Scoring from the 1600-meter run came from senior Kason York in fifth (5:04.06) and junior Drew Miller (sixth - 5:09.14).
In relay action, the Wayne 4x800 of junior Boden Dobbins, sophomore Thomas Raymundo Bacillio, Gonzalez and York finished runner-up in 8:56.87.
The Wayne boys distance freshman medley of Carter Mostek, Kyler Parker, Trecyn Ocampo and Hudson Rubendall took third (4:40.90).
Top performers for the Wakefield boys were posted by a first place time from junior Cael Johnson during the 300-meter hurdles (40.56). He also placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.37). Senior Jesse Lundahl collected a runner-up finish in the discus (140'). Lundahl was also fourth in the shot put (42' 1");
Senior Timothy Kaufman placed fourth in the long jump (19' 5 3/4"); junior Mason Lamprecht also took fifth in the 100-meter dash (11.79) and junior Benny Palma finished sixth during the 3200-meter run (11:28.33).
In relay action, the Wakefield boys 4x400 of Lundahl, junior Jacob Borg, Lamprecht and Johnson posted a third place time in 3:41.60 while fourth place times came from the 4x100 of senior Brandon Parades, Johnson, Borg and Lamprecht in 46.90 as well as the 4x800 of Palma, sophomore Will Benson, sophomore Baldwin Garcia and freshman Tucker Raveling in 9:43.
The Wakefield boys distance freshman medley of Oliver Sievers, Raveling, Matthew Metzler and Davidsin Lortz took fourth in 4:49.29.
The Wayne High track & field program will next travel to the Wisner-Pilger Invite on Saturday, April 12 while Wakefield track & field will return to action during the rescheduled West Point-Beemer Invite on Thursday, April 10.
