The Wayne/Wakefield baseball team found the going tough this weekend, as they were shut out by Norfolk and Blair in weekend aciton.
On Friday night, Wayne/Wakefield was blanked by Norfolk High, as the Panthers came away with a 3-0 win.
Wayne/Wakefield pitcher Adam Bentjen pitched well in a losing effort, striking out four and allowing four hits and two walks. He didn’t get any help from the offense, though, as Brennan O’Reilly’s two hits were the only safeties of the game for the locals.
On Saturday, Blair came to Hank Overin Field and cranked out 12 hits on their way to a 12-0 whitewashing. Again, Wayne/Wakefield was limited to two hits, with Caden Korth and Julio Sanchez both knocking out singles. Isaac Camarena pitched four innings in taking the loss, striking out two.
