The Wayne/Wakefield baseball team was limited to four hits in a 4-0 loss at Arlington on Monday afternoon.
The Eagles scored a run in the second, then added two in the fourth before closing the scoring with a run in the sixth off losing pitcher Julio Sanchez, who gave up six hits and struck out two.
Sanchez stroked a one-out double in the second to highlight Wayne/Wakefield’s four-hit attack. Payten Gamble, Adam Bentjen and Mikey Reyes also had base hits in Monday’s game, but couldn’t move a runner past second base as they fell to 1-2 on the season.
Wayne/Wakefield plays at Fort Calhoun on Tuesday. Their home opener is Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against Thurston-Cuming County at Hank Overin Field.
