Wildcat beach volleyball season concludes, ties 2022 team in wins

After playing two matches each of the first two days of the 2025 AVCA Small College Beach Championships, Wayne State College played a single match on Saturday.

Back at Gulf Shores, Alabama, #12 seed Wayne State College competed against #10 seed Eckerd College (FL).

The 2025 WSC beach volleyball season ended with a 3-0 setback to Eckerd College in the single elimination Silver Bracket.

The ‘Cats end the season at 14-6.

The 5’s senior pairing of Brooke Peltz and Rhianna Wilhelm went extra points in the first set before falling 23-21 followed by a 21-15 loss in the second set.

Wayne State’s #1 duo of junior Taylor Bunjer and freshman Ava Spies were defeated by scores of 21-15, 21-14 while the 3’s team of senior Brooklyn Kusler and sophomore Molly Romano fell in straight sets 21-11, 21-9.

The Wayne State College beach volleyball team tied for the most wins in a season at (14) matching the 2022 squad.

For the first time in five years, the ‘Cats won a match in pool play at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships and advanced to the Silver bracket for the first time ever finishing in a tie for fifth in the Silver bracket and finished tied for 11th overall out of 18 teams in the tournament.
