Wildcat cross country opens at Augie Twilight

Indian Hills Community College transfer Antoine Bardou had an impressive debut Friday evening for the Wayne State College men’s cross country team, posting a 19th-place finish for the Wildcats at the Augustana Twilight Invitational held at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls, S.D.
 Wayne State was 16th out of 22 teams with a team score of 439 points. Bardou was 19th out of 228 runners with a time of 19:50 on the four-mile course to lead the Wildcats. Senior Corbin Lehn was the next Wildcat finisher in 118th place at 21:20m with sophomore Isaias Solorio right behind in 122nd place with a time of 21:25.
Other Wayne State finishers included freshman Noah Noecker (137th, 21:42), senior Joey Black (161st, 22:13), freshman Kak Ayaj (193rd, 23:01) and freshman Nathan Pearson (208th, 23:49).
Senior Andrea DeSimone was Wayne State’s top finisher Friday evening for the Wildcat women, placing 88th out of 228 runners as the Wildcats came in 16th out of 20 teams in the college division with a team score of 495 points.
DeSimone recorded a time of 18:51 on the three-mile course to lead the Wildcats.  Next in line was freshman Jamie Larsen at 102nd overall in 19:10. 
Other WSC finishers included Alexis Oswald (142nd, 19:56), Josephine Peitz (164th, 20:22), Mary Alderson (214th, 22:31) and Sarah Post (225th, 25:00).
Wayne State’s next meet will be Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Dakota State Invitational in Madison, S.D.
