Wayne State’s indoor track and field teams posted some solid efforts at the UNL Holiday Inn Invitational meet on Saturday at the Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln.
In men’s action, Robert Sullivan posted an impressive third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, coming through with a time of 8.3 seconds. Antoine Bardou also earned a third-place finish in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:26.63.
In other action, Josh Spenner was sixth in the pole vault (14-7 1/2), Brady Metz was eighth in the triple jump (46-11 1/2) and ninth in the long jump (22-5 1/4), Matt Nemec was seventh in the weight throw (51-6 1/4), Cade Kalkowski was 10th in the weight throw (48-1 3/4), and the distance medley of Nick Fly, Nathan Pearson, Schmit and Bardou was seventh in 10:28.12.
In women’s action, Michaela Dendinger was second in the weight throw to lead the Wayne State effort, finishing with a best throw of 57-0 3/4. She was also 10th in the shot put with a best effort of 40-9 1/2.
Other results included Tessa Ives placing 11th in the weight throw (46-8 1/4), Andrea DeSimone finishing 12th in the 5,000-meter run (21:10.88), Riana Noelle was 13th in the triple jump (33-4 3/4), Shelby Roth was 15th in the high jump (4-11) and Tia Jones was 16th in the shot put (38-2).
Wayne State will next compete in the South Dakota State Open on Friday in Brookings, S.D.
