Wildcat men fourth, women sixth at Mount Marty meet

The Wayne State men finished fourth and the placed sixth out of 12 teams during the Mount Marty Invitational Cross Country Meet, held Saturday at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, S.D.

Sophomore Molly McCartney was the top Wildcat finisher for the women, taking 21st in a field of 129 runners with a time of 19:43 on the 5,000-meter course. Wayne freshman Andrea Torres was next in 47th place at 20:19 with freshman Allie Rosener finishing 58th in 20:53.

Other Wildcat runners included Joan Jelimo (68th, 21:15), Amanda Mote (73rd, 21:29), Joana Sato (83rd, 21:47), Hannah Perkins (85th, 21:47), Josephine Peitz (88th, 21:59), Marin Jetensky (94th, 22:29) and Brianna Crouch (98th, 22:41).

In men’s action, Dylan Kessler covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:30 and was Wayne State’s top runner and 18th overall.  Next was Isaias Solorio in 38th place at 27:20, followed by Bailey Peckham and Bryce Holcomb, who were 47th and 48th with times of 27:39 and 27:45, respectively.

Other Wildcat runners included Jesus Arellano (63rd, 28:13), Brock Hegarty (65th, 28:19), Nathan Hiemer (82nd, 29:06) and Jakob Kemper (94th, 29:54).]

Wayne State is off until Saturday, Nov. 3 when the Wildcats travel to Aberdeen, S.D., for the Northern Sun Conference Championships.
