Kendall Jacks scored a career-high 31 points, but it wasn’t enough as Wayne State’s hopes for a first-round upset in the Northern Sun Conference tournament were dashed in a 92-78 loss at St. Cloud State on Wednesday in St. Cloud, Minn.

The Wildcats used a 13-0 run to take a 19-10 lead in the first half and led by as many as 12 late in the first half before St. Cloud closed to within five, 40-35, at intermission.

The Huskies caught fire in the second half, going 20-of-30 from the field and outscoring Wayne State 57-38 in the final 20 minutes to pull away with the win.

Jacks’ game-high total was aided by Matt Thomas with 17 points and Austin Esters with 10. Brian Goodwin had five rebounds and Vance Janssen had six assists to lead the Wildcats, who finish the season with a 10-19 record.
