After playing their third non-conference game on the road (fourth total), the Wayne State College men's basketball team joined their women's program for the NSIC opener at Rice.
In the night cap on Nov. 25, WSC suffered a 94-86 loss against Augustana University.
The Wildcats saw their two-game winning streak snapped falling to 3-2 and 0-1 NSIC.
Wildcat double figure leaders were junior JJ Ferrin with 23 points (3-6 3PT); sophomore Matt Noll recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds; senior Kai Smith added 15 points and five assists as freshman Ben Kerkhoff tallied 14 points.
The week prior, WSC won 87-84 at Newman (Wichita, KS) on Nov. 20. The host Jets led 33-29 in the first half followed by the Wildcats winning the second half scoring, 58-51.
Double figure scoring came from Noll with 17 points while 16 point scoring was posted by Ferrin as well as senior transfer (Crookston) Andrew Stokes.
Redshirt junior transfer (CSU Pueblo) Aurrion Harris added 10 points.
The Wayne State College men will join their women's team at Nebraska-Kearney for a non-conference, in-state rivalry game on Nov. 29. Men's game will be at 4 p.m. (women at 2 p.m.).
Next home contest for the WSC men is scheduled for Dec. 1 hosting Hesston College (KS) at 7 p.m. (women's game at 5 p.m.).
The Wildcats will also return to NSIC play on Dec. 3 hosting Sioux Falls at 5:30/7:30 p.m. (men's game played first).
