Wildcat netters upset at St. Cloud State

No. 18-ranked Wayne State suffered a rare loss at St. Cloud State on Saturday, as the host Huskies held the Wildcats to a .075 hitting percentage in a three-game sweep, winning 25-12, 25-16, 25-23.

The Huskies hit .371 in the opening set and cruised to the easy win, and never trailed in the second set as they held Wayne State to a minus-.031 hitting percentage to take the 2-0 lead.

The third set was much closer, but the Huskies got a kill and a Wayne State attack error to close out the 3-0 sweep.

Erin Gross led Wayne State with seven kills followed by Jaci Brahmer with six and Katie Stephens with five. Haley Kauth notched 15 digs while setter Megan Gebhardt was credited with 22 assists in the match.

The Wildcats (7-6, 2-3 NSIC) will be at home Tuesday for a 6 p.m. non-conference match against South Dakota School of Mines.
