Wildcat outdoor T&F shine during Mount Marty Twilight

With weekend competition looming for the Wayne State College women’s and men’s outdoor track & field program, top marks and times were posted by the Wildcats on Wednesday.

From Yankton, South Dakota, WSC competed in the Mount Marty Twilight Meet.

In the women’s division, senior thrower Reilly Young posted an NSIC-leading and NCAA provisional mark of 166’ 6” to win the discus highlighting four event wins WSC.

Young’s winning toss of 166’ 6” in the discus now ranks as the sixth-best throw in NCAA Division II this season.

Other event wins by the Wildcats came from sophomore Kailee Kellum in the long jump at 18’ 3 ¼”, junior Lindsey Kneifl in the triple jump at 35’ 4 ½” and freshman Allie Czapla in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a winning time of 11:50.36.

Senior Hailey Baker had a second-place finish in the hammer throw at 175’ 8” with senior McKenna Markle sixth (163’ 9”) and junior Olivia Schwarzrock eighth at 163’ 0”.  Schwarzrock also had a fifth-place finish in the shot put at 42’ ¾” while freshman McKinley Grover was eighth in the discus at 135’ 11”.

In running events, freshman Kaitlyn Bloomenrader was third in the 800-meter run at 2:21.48, freshman Reagan Murphy had a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.76 seconds and freshman Zoey Holmes was fifth in the 400-meter dash at 1:00.04.

Sophomore Callie Kirchner took sixth in the 1,500-meter run (4:53.96) and Kellum was seventh in the high jump clearing 5’ 1 ¼”.

In the men’s division, sophomore Jaxson Ninete recorded an NCAA provisional mark in the hammer throw to lead a solid day for the Wildcat throwers.

Ninete had a second-place finish in the event with a top mark of 192’ 1” and now ranks #3 in the NSIC in the hammer throw. He also posted a fourth-place finish in the discus at 156’ 2”.

Junior Daylin Mallory was third in the discus at 156’ 5” and produced a fourth-place finish in the shot put at 51’ 7 ¼”.

Senior Daniel Elge took fourth in the hammer throw (189’ 6”) and was sixth in the shot put at 50’ 3 ¼”.

Junior Jake Peitz was sixth in the hammer throw (178’ 6”) with junior Matthew Logue right behind in seventh (176’ 4”). Freshman Samuel Zazueta took seventh in the discus at 150’ 10” with senior Alex Brandt placing eighth in the javelin (146’ 9”).

Sophomore Elliott Nottlemann captured a third-place finish in the long jump at 22’ 9” and junior Alex Leuenberger was third in the 400-meter dash in 49.81 seconds.

Senior Brandon Mitzel posted a sixth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:40.69 with freshman Simeon Weers seventh in a time of 11:46.47.
