Wildcat runners compete in NSIC championships

Wayne State’s men placed 10th and the women finished 14th in the Northern Sun Conference Cross Country Championships, held Saturday morning at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, S.D.
In the men’s race, Antoine Bardou was the top Wildcat finisher, taking 33rd out of 108 runners with a time of 25:34 on the 8,000-meter course..
Following Bardou was Isaias Solorio in 73rd place in 27:16. Other WSC runners included Corbin Lehn (83rd, 27:44), Noah Noecker (87th, 28:14), Kak Ayaj (93rd, 28:41) and Nathan Pearson (107th, 32:27).
Andrea DeSimone was the top Wildcat finisher in the women’s race, placing 86th in 24:01 on the 6,000-meter course.
Allen freshman Alexis Oswald followed in 107th place at 25:30. Wakefield freshman Josephine Peitz was closed behind in 108th at 25:35 and freshman Jamie Larsen was 110th with a time of 25:36. Other Wildcat runners included Mary Alderson (126th, 27:56) and Sarah Post (133rd, 31:39).
Augustana repeated as men’s champion while University of Mary edged Minnesota Duluth for the women’s title.
The Wildcats will close out their season on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the NCAA Central Regional Championships in Sioux Falls, S.D.
