Wayne State scored with just over 15 minutes remaining to force a 2-2 tie against Minot State in Northern Sun Conference women’s soccer action played on a frigid, windy Friday afternoon at the WSC Soccer Pitch.

The Wildcats opened the scoring at the 8:06 mark of the first half when sophomore forward Reagan Allen scored on an assist by Paige Pemberton, but the Beavers answered 85 seconds later as Yossi Villagrana found the back of the net to even the match at 1-1.

The Beavers took the lead in the 25th minute when Anabel Noches scored in front of the net off an assist from Leilany Ponce for a 2-1 Minot State lead at intermission.

The score stayed 2-1 until 16 minutes left in the contest, when senior midfielder Annika Syrud scored off a pass from Morgan Rhodes to make the score 2-2.

Allen’s goal was her third of the season for WSC while Syvrud scored for the first time this season.  Syvrud and Skylar Stueckrath each had two shots and one on goal for the Wildcats. Senior goalkeeper Hayden Wallace was credited with three saves in the contest.

The Wildcats (7-6-3, 5-4-3 NSIC) play their Senior Day home finale Sunday at 12 p.m. against the University of Mary.
