For the first time since 1999, the Wayne State soccer team did not come away with a loss against Winona State.
Brooke Buzzell scored with 4:23 left in regulation and the Wildcats kept Winona State off the board in overtime to salvage a 1-1 tie at the WSC Soccer Pitch, marking the first time in 25 games against the Warriors that the Wildcats did not lose to Winona State.
Winona State scored early in the second half when Abby Bohanski nailed a shot past Wildcat goalkeeper Kylie Comba at the 51:44 mark on an assist from Courtney Wiencek. The equalizer came from Buzzell when she scored her first goal of the season on a pass from Hannah Knight.
Wayne State outshot Winona State 17-11, with Kelsey Engstrom recording four shots on goal. Comba had five saves as Wayne State moved to 4-1-2 (1-1-2 NSIC) on the season.
Wayne State plays at Upper Iowa on Sunday at 1 p.m.
