Wildcat soccer team suffers 4-0 shutout at Winona

Winona State peppered the Wayne State goal with 16 shots on goal and found the net twice in each half to post a 4-0 win over the Wildcats in NSIC women’s soccer action Friday in Winona, Minn.

The Warriors scored goals in the 21st and 33rd minutes to take the 2-0 halftime advantage. They added another goal 13 minutes into the second hald and capped the scoring nine minutes later to seal the shutout.

The Warriors held a 24-16 edge in shots over Wayne State including 16-10 in shots on goal. Winona State had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks and were called for eight fouls compared to five for Wayne State.

Shelby Bullard had three shots with two on goal to lead the Wildcats while Rylie Wehner added three shots with one on goal. Carleigh Wilson followed with two shots and one on goal. Rachel Grisham was credited with a season-high 12 saves while allowing four goals in the loss.

The Wildcats (1-3-3, 0-2-2 NSIC) will play at home Sunday afternoon, hosting Upper Iowa in an NSIC match at 1 p.m. on the WSC Soccer Pitch.
