Wildcat softball continues winning success in Florida; Coleman and Borngrebe with pitching gems

With two more midweek games remaining for the Wayne State College softball team on their National Training Center spring competition, WSC continued their non-conference success on Tuesday.

Back at Legends Way Field in Clermont, Florida, the Wildcats battled Bentley (MA) and Northwood (MI).

Timely scoring and clutch pitching allowed Wayne State College to shutout both Bentley (3-0) and Northwood (5-0). WSC has won back-to-back now improving their Florida record to 7-1 while moving to 14-8 overall.

In the win over Bentley, Wayne State College plated a single run in the top of the second inning. Sophomore Jordyn Rochholz drove in sophomore Taylor Coleman.

Following a scoreless third, WSC added single runs in the fourth from senior Lauren Laudick who drove in Rochholz and redshirt freshman Kennadi Borngrebe tripled in sophomore Emilee Marth in the fifth.

Final favored Wayne State College winning 3-0 and outhitting Bentley, 10-1 while committing zero errors compared to two by their opponent.

Jordyn Rochholz singled twice, tripled, drove in a run and scored; Kennadi Borngrebe singled, tripled and drove in a run as sophomore Jordyn Klein singled and doubled.

Emilee Marth singled and scored; Lauren Laudick singled and drove in a run; freshman Maddie Scobee singled as Taylor Coleman scored.

Coleman (94 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout victory in seven innings allowing one hit while striking out seven batters, walking two and hitting one.

During the victory against Northwood, WSC began with a three-run bottom of the first inning. Marth opened with a RBI double scoring Klein; senior Hayley Murphey drove in freshman Leah Chance and Scobee added a sac-fly scoring Marth.

Following four scoreless innings, the Wildcats added two more runs in the sixth. Murphey doubled in Marth as redshirt senior Mary Krystofiak drove in Murphy.

Final favored Wayne State College winning 5-0 and outhitting Northwood, 8-4 while committing one error compared to zero by their opponent.

Emilee Marth doubled twice, drove in one run and scored twice as Murphy singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored.

Mary Krystofiak singled and drove in a run; Jordyn Klein and Leach Chance both singled and scored; Lauren Laudick singled as Maddie Scobee accounted for a RBI.

Kennadi Borngrebe (121 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout victory in seven innings allowing four hits while striking out nine batters and walking four.
