Wildcat sports announce signings

Some of the Wayne State College sports announced recent signings to their 2026-27 respective season.

According to releases from Wayne State Athletics, they include WSC baseball, women's and men's basketball and volleyball.

Wildcat head baseball coach Alex Koch announced nine student-athletes have signed national letters of intent.

The group includes Jaxson Appuhn from Omaha, Ian Arends of Grand Island, Gunner DeMilt from Kearney, Aiden Ensor of Bellevue, Seth Milne and Koby Modrell from Gretna, Caden Shafer of Omha, Grayson Wallace of Papillion and Logan Wick from Omaha.

WSC finished last year at 30-22 overall (25-15/t-third NSIC). The 'Cats will open 2026 in Hawaii Feb. 6-8.

First year head WSC women's basketball coach Brian Ortmeier announced that five student-athletes will join the program next school year.

The group includes Ruth Dvoracek of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Courtney Franck from Mount Vernon, Iowa, Eleanor Griffin from Lincoln, Jadyn Kor of Pipestone, Minnesota and Avah Underwood from Council Bluffs, Iowa.

WSC women's basketball is off to a 3-0 start following a 74-63 Nov. 18 win at William Jewell College (MO). The Wildcats will next host Chadron State on Nov. 22 at noon.

Head WSC men's basketball coach Jeff Kaminsky added two recruits to the 2026-27 signing class.

The duo includes Tyler Hilton of Marion, Iowa and Koby Meyers from Omaha

WSC is off to a 2-1 start to their season recently winning 95-58 in their home opener against Manhattan Christian (KS) on Nov. 17. The 'Cats will next visit Newman (KS) on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.

Head WSC volleyball coach Scott Kneifl announced the signings of four recruits.

The group is Sophia Fisher from Schertz, Texas, Channing Johnson of Denver, Iowa, Bella Sjuts from Lincoln and Payton Sullivan of Hastings.

#2 (NSIC)/#2 (DII) WSC will next travel to St. Paul, MN on Nov. 21 to face #3/#11 St. Cloud State at 5 p.m. during the NSIC semifinals.
