Wildcat volleyball eighth in updated rankings, begins home NSIC play Friday

With back-to-back home matches on the schedule this weekend, Wayne State College volleyball remained #8 in the national poll.

According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, the Wildcats received 814 points in voting from various Division II coaches across the country among the latest AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.

Tampa holds down the top spot (8-0) with 43 first place votes as two first place votes went to both #2 MSU Denver (9-1) who remained second and #11 Cal Poly Pomona (8-1) who moved up two spots.

Other NSIC teams rated include #4 Southwest Minnesota State (10-0) up one spot, #9 Concordia-St. Paul (6-3) fell one spot, #12 St. Cloud State (7-2) remained the same, #15 Minnesota Duluth (7-2) fell four spots and #22 Northern State (9-1) moved up two spots. Minnesota State-Mankato (22) was also receiving votes and just listed outside the top 25.

#8 Wayne State College, 8-2 on the year and 2-0 in the NSIC, opened league play over the weekend with road wins at MSU Moorhead 3-1 and previous ranked #24 Northern State 3-0.
