Wayne State is ranked seventh in the initial NCAA Div. II Central Region volleyball rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA office in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Wildcats, ranked eighth in this week’s AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, are 19-6 overall and 17-6 in games played within the Central Region. The NSIC features six of the top seven teams in the region with Concordia-St. Paul first followed by Minnesota Duluth second and Southwest Minnesota State third.
Nebraska-Kearney, from the MIAA, is fourth, with Winona State, Augustana and Wayne State ranked fifth, sixth and seventh. MIAA schools Central Oklahoma, Washburn and Northwest Missouri State round out the top 10 teams in the region, which includes teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Great American Conference and Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
The top eight teams from the region will advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament Dec. 1-3 at the site of the top seed.
