Wildcat women currently second, two inside top 10 following 18-hole round

Over the course of the next month, Wayne State College women’s golf will compete in four outings.

From Bayside Golf Club in Brule, Nebraska, WSC took part in day one of the two-day Battle at the Bayside on Monday. Eight teams are in action with team PAR being 284 and individual PAR being 71.

The Wildcats currently sit second and just seven shots back from the lead following an opening round score of 321.

Nebraska-Kearney leads the team standings with a 314, WSC follows in second (321), UNK-B is third (323), Northwest Missouri State sits fourth (327) and Southwest Minnesota State rounds out the top five teams with a 333.

Wayne State College is being led by Camryn Johnson who is tied for third at six-over PAR 77 while Abbigail Brodersen was tied for ninth with an 80.

Other first round results came from Erica Lee and Saffire Sayre (t-14th – 82), Hailey Kenkel (t-18th – 83), Meg Thompson (t-24th – 86) as Kylie Powers (t-37th – 92).

The top individual leader for the Battle at Bayside is Juliana Botero from Nebraska-Kearney with a two-over PAR 73 among the 49 golfers.

Day two action was to conclude the Battle at Bayside on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from the Bayside Golf Club.
