Wildcat women finish 13th during MIAA fall preview

A third September outing took over the Wayne State College women’s golf schedule.

From the Meadowlark Golf Club in Kearney, WSC took part in the MIAA Fall Preview on Monday and Tuesday.

The Wildcats finished 13th with a 633 following rounds of 312 and 321. WSC fell three spots from day one to the second and final day of competition.

Central Missouri won the MIAA Fall Preview with a rounds of 294 and 297 to total 591.

Wayne State College was led by Camryn Johnson who tied for 40th with a 156 (75/81) as Erica Lee tied for 47th shooting a 159 (79/80).

Other results came from Abbigail Brodersen tied for 55th with a 161 (81/80), Hailey Kenkel tied for 62nd with a 163 (83/80), Saffire Sayre finished 69th with a 167 (77/90) as individual scores came from Meg Thompson who tied for 77th with a 171 (88/83) and Kylie Powers who placed 87th with a 184 (86/98).

Shayla Nordlund from Fort Hays State was the top individual golfer firing rounds of 73 and 70 to total 143 among the 89 golfers.

The Wayne State College women’s golf team will next compete in the Nebraska Intercollegiate hosted by Hastings at the Lochland Country Club. Rounds will take place on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 – 5.
