The Wayne State College women’s golf was picked to finish third in the 2023-24 NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

WSC received 95 points in voting conducted by league coaches and returns all but one player from last year’s team that finished third at the NSIC Championships.

Defending NSIC champion Augustana was a unanimous selection to win the NSIC women’s golf title this season, receiving 11 first-place votes and 121 points (coaches can not vote for their own team). Winona State came in second with one first-place vote and 98 points, just ahead of third place Wayne State with 95 points and fourth place Minnesota State at 93.

Senior Jazmine Taylor was selected as the Wildcat Player to Watch in the NSIC this season. Taylor set a new WSC school record last season with a scoring average of 78.00 with one tournament win and four top-five finishes. Taylor was an All-NSIC Second Team selection last season and was named to the NSIC All-Tournament Team after tying for second at the NSIC Championships last spring in Missouri. Thirteen of her 19 rounds played last season were in the 70’s, highlighted by a school record round of 143 (71-72) to win individual honors at the Golden Bear Classic in Minnesota.

Wayne State opens the 2023 season on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 5-6, at the Central Region Preview in Blue Springs, Mo.
