Day one of the spring golf season for Wayne State College women’s golf began a couple weeks sooner than originally planned with the addition to an early March invite.
From the Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond, Oklahoma, WSC opened the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational on Monday at the PAR 70 course.
From the 16 teams in action, Wayne State College was sitting third after day one following a first round 305.
Southwestern Oklahoma State edged Harding (292-301) during day one.
Individually, Camryn Johnson led WSC with a 73 to be tied for fifth while Gaia Stancikova followed with a 75 (t-16th).
Other day one scores were being posted by Saffire Sayre (t-29th – 77), Abbigail Brodersen (t-47th – 80) and Erica Lee (t-68th – 84) to round out team scoring as Meg Thompson (t-76th – 86) is competing as an individual.
An opening round 71 by two different players was the low score on Monday.
